Rangers Represent on National Stage

This summer three Rangers Basketball Players went on to represent Alberta at the Canadian National Basketball Championships.

Kayla Guilett and Isabel Rattai both played for the Gold winning Alberta U16 Girls while Jenna Spruyt collected a Bronze medal with the Alberta U17 team.

All three players had a great experience and continued to highlight the job Rangers Basketball does in the area of player development. We look forward to watching these girls as they continue to play in High School and beyond.

Summer Camp Finishes Strong

A great finish to our season with 20 campers attending our third annual Summer Camp at the South Ridge YMCA.

We received a lot of positive feedback and were overjoyed at the husttle, heart and determination on display.

There are a lot of great young basketball players coming up through Medicine Hat and we look forwward to seeing them in the future!

Strong Finish at GCSO

All four Rangers basketball teams finished their seasons at the Great Canadian Shoot-Out in Edmonton over the Canada Day weekend. All teams were able to medal with the highlight being the U13 Boys winning the first ever gold medal for Rangers at the GCSO

Congratulations to all the teams and a big thank you to our coaches, managers and parents.

Isabel Rattai Goes to National ID camp

Rangers Basketball is proud to annoounce Isabel Rattai's invitation to the Canada Basketball National Age-Group ID camp held in Edmonton, AB March 28 to March 31.

Isabel has been a member of Rangers for four years and is playing for Coach Harrold in her first season at Medicine Hat High School in her Grade 10 year.

Melanie Rakochy has been Isabel's coach every year in Rangers and is excited about Isabel's opportunity. "Isabel is the product of our player development focus here at Rangers Bsketball. After having five players play provincially last year it is exciting to see our players start to get National level recognition."

Isabel has attended camps and starting in Grade five played on Rangers teams, as well as participating on our U13 and U15 level teams. This year Isabel will be participating on our U17 team and will continue her development going forward.

Last year Isabel played with Basketball Alberta's U15 team as well as with the Rangers U15 team. Congrats to Isabel!

More information on the camp can be found here

Alcock Commits to Rattlers

Another Ranger Alum will be playing post-secondary basketball after graduating. Megan Alcock (2014) made her commitment to join the Medicine Hat College Rattlers next season. Megan's commitment will bring the total number of Rangers with post-secondary experience to twenty.

Megan, a student at Medicine Hat High School, has been a part of the Rangers spring/summer program for four years. She has had the opportunity to travel and compete at a high level which has paid off with this scholarship offer from the college.

Coach Melanie Rakochy said, "Megan has worked hard on her game in her time with Rangers. She set the goal of becoming a college athlete and that hard work is now being rewarded. She is a great team player that will bring so much more than basketball skills to the Rattlers."

You can view the Medicine Hat News article here.

A number of Rangers are graduating this year and we look forward to having more of our alumni makign post-secndary announcements

MHCBA League Registration Open

The Medicine Hat Community Basketball League Registration is now open. The MHCBA is a co-ed grade 5-7 fair play league focusing on player and skill development. Teams practice once per week and have one or two games on Sundays.

The MHCBA has some lee-way in working around other sports and commitments your child may have. It definitely DOES NOT conflict with school basketball and can be a great way to enhance your child's skill development if they are also playing Junior B.
